This is Not Your Mother’s Wrinkle Cream

Remember the smelly pink goo that your mother used to smear all over her face each night? You know the stuff that stuck to your face and hands for a week if you got it wet. Well if you have been denying your skin the care it deserves because this is what you think all wrinkle creams are like, then it is time for you to think again. Today’s wrinkle creams not only have much better ingredients, but they also have a less harsh smell.
What exactly was the smell of that pink stuff supposed to be anyway? I think the bottle said something about a light, refreshing rose scent. Yeah right, only if the roses were covered in manure! The combination of chemicals and artificial scent was nearly unbearable at times, especially for those with allergy problems. The natural ingredients used to produce newer wrinkle creams have very little smell. Additionally, because many companies have become more sensitive to allergy sufferers, many come without any scent or with very little scent. These new creams not only smell better but they work better as well.
While that wonderful pink ooze is still available, the world of wrinkle creams has greatly expanded. Rather than harsh chemicals combined with paraffin or beeswax, most popular wrinkle creams available now have skin enriching fatty acids, amino acids and vitamins. These are designed to both prevent and heal skin damage, not just to provide a stripped surface so that you can cover it with make up. These new wrinkle creams do come at a price however.
In fact the price of most new wrinkle creams is considerably higher than the wrinkle cream your mother used. While old wrinkle creams were priced at only around $2.00, new wrinkle creams range between $15 and $500. Discount stores advertise wrinkle creams at much lower prices. But a look at the contents will show that these do not have the quality ingredients found in more expensive products. This is not to say a $15 product will not work just as well as a $500 product. The ingredients in many of these are the same so really all you have to do to get the best wrinkle cream is check the label.
When you look at the label, first note the active ingredients. Avoid those featuring waxes and unnatural chemicals completely. These can actually damage your skin over time by drying it out. Instead, focus on products that use natural bases like coconut and Shea butter. These will work well if combined with the right additives, but do not purchase a wrinkle cream that advertises this as the only active ingredient. If these are the only active ingredient they will not perform any duty other than to moisturize. Other natural content should be vitamins and amino acids. Often many of these are not listed individually but instead they are listed as tea extracts. Does it sound a bit strange to be using these kinds of ingredients topically?
If you think about it, people have been using natural creams based on various nutrients externally for hundreds of years. These were used long before chemical additives were created. For this reason, it makes sense that wrinkle creams be made of such ingredients. While they may be slightly more expensive, they are also better for your skin. Besides, with a better smell and all natural ingredients, where could you go wrong?
Stop dragging your feet and start caring for your skin. You will look better and feel more confident. There is no need to spend a great deal of money and the treatments are simple. The sooner you begin the sooner you will see results.
